Keep Calm and Plan on

My favorite part of planning a wedding is when things start to really come together. With the date looming - I mean approaching, I just love getting things done. Every item that gets purchased, or every project that gets started, gets my adrenaline pumping! Call me a planning junkie but I honestly love this whole wedding buisness - even though sometimes it does NOT go as planned.

I think that the scariest part of planning a wedding for most people is figuring out when to do things. My advice for that is: do what you think is best & do it the way you want. There are hundreds of articles out there that tell you how long it takes to plan a wedding and when you should do certain parts of the planning process but not a single one is the same. If you feel like your guests need more time to respond to invites, give them more time. If you want to book your venue well in advance, then do it. Plan your wedding the way that makes you happy and causes you the least amount of stress and worry. Make your own planning timeline.

Here are some of my tips for planning:

The very first thing I think you need to do is set a budget. This will be the one thing you constantly refer back to because staying within budget makes for a happy bride and groom ;)! Sometimes this budget depends on guest count so you will want to look at the size of your families and who else you want to invite at this time as well.

Next I would suggest that you pick a venue that fits within your budget and your guest list. If you have a huge guest list then your venue will need to be larger and vise versa. You also need to choose a date of course! But don't pick a date before a venue because some dates may be available and some dates may not be.

After you have a venue you can let your creativity flow and choose your decor and whatnot. This part was the most fun for me because I love knick knacks and incorporating them into the wedding design and I love designing!

There will be a lot of choices involved in wedding planning and it can get overwhelming but the important thing is to stay positive and remember how much fun your special day is going to be.

Don't sweat the small stuff. When the wedding is over you won't even remember what went wrong! All you will remember is what went right!

Lesson Learned.

At the beginning of the month, the fiancé and I ordered our invitations from an online store called Wedding Paper Divas. They have a lot of really cool designs for awesome prices so it seemed like a great idea.

www.weddingpaperdivas.com

They were supposed to ship by January 15th and they came in early so I was really excited. Unfortunately, they came back wrong the first time. We received them in the mail a week and half ago and when I opened the package the words were backwards. When you open up the invite you don't see the information! I myself do not deal with wedding related crisis' but luckily the fiancé does, lol.

He called them ready to tear them a new one and surprisingly they were really great about the whole thing. The person he talked to ensured that they would be re-printed and shipped out ASAP as we want to get them in the mail fairly soon. Last Friday, I got a notification that they were here :) so I ran home on my lunch to check them out again. I was praying they would be right this time...but they weren't. Instead of new invitations they sent us more response cards! How do you not know the difference between invitations and response cards?

Again, he calls and complains and they said that they would fix it - which is good and all but they shouldn't be wrong again to begin with. He said he wanted them by January 20th because we are waiting to send them out and he figured that way they will definitely be here on time but this is getting ridiculous. If we receive them wrong again, I will probably have another bridezilla moment and none of us want to see that! LOL

Moral to the story: order everything you need from the internet well in advance because screw ups happen! Lesson learned.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Blog readers! The one thing the New Year means to me is only 6 more months of wedding planning time left! This is both exciting and nerve-wracking because I can't wait to marry my amazing fiancé but I feel like I have so much to do! This week we ordered the invitations - which should be here tomorrow :) - and the materials to make the guest favors! Although it's going to be a lot of work, I'm super excited to get the favors started because they are really cool (atleast in my opinion, lol).

So now that it is 2013 - Holy cow - it's time to get the wedding planning rolling so I'll be posting a lot more (hopefully, haha).

Stay tuned for more fun and exciting planning and projects!
